Haribo Gummy RecipeThis homemade gummy bear recipe brings a new meaning to having fun with your kids. They taste like the real thing. Add multiple colors and mix up the flavors, you’re bound to enjoy yourself thoroughly.INGREDIENTS8 ounces of plain white sugar8 ounces of corn syrup or confectioner’s glucose3 tablespoons of sorbitol44 grams of gelatin (around 6 packets)6 ounces of water1-2 teaspoons of fruity candy flavoring1 1/2 teaspoons of citric acidDIRECTIONSAdd the gelatin to cool water in a small bowl, stir, and allow to rest (or “bloom”) for about 5 minutesMix corn syrup, sugar, and sorbitol to a medium saucepan, and bring to a simmer over low heatAdd the gelatin mixture and stir until everything is combinedTake the pan off the heat, and mix in the citric acidAllow the mixture to cool and rest for about 5 minutes. White foam will rise to the top—skim it off. Let sit for another 5, and then skim off any additional foam. (Doing this in two steps ensures that the mixture is as clear as possible)Use a fine mesh strainer to strain the liquid into a bowlColor and flavor:The amount is highly dependent on the kind of flavoring you’re using. For highly concentrated flavors, like LorAnn oils, don’t use more than 1/2 teaspoon. When adding food coloring, start with a very small amount, and add more bit by bit until you’ve reached the color you wantVery lightly oil the gummy bear mold using just a few drops of a neutral-tasting oil like grape or canola and a paper towel.Fill the molds to the top with the dropperChill in the fridge overnight, or up to 24 hours, before gently unmolding.
